Introducing the latest Course by Basics of Sikhi – The ‘Why Khalsa? Why Fateh? Course’
This new course has been in the pipeline for a while now and has been much awaited and anticipated as the follow up to The WhyGuru Course, which has been running for 4 years and delivered all over the world including cities such as London, Toronto, Delhi, Birmingham and Calgary!!!
With Maharaj’s Kirpa, we are very excited to bring you this new course and do Ardaas that Sangat enjoy it as much as The WhyGuru Course.
Unlike The WhyGuru Course that runs continuously over 14 weeks and covers a wide variety of topics on Sikh history and philosophy, The ‘Why Khalsa? Why Fateh? Course’ is module based and each module will cover a particular topic in depth over a several weeks.
The first module: Gurbani Sangeet.
Join Kirit Singh & Jasdeep Singh at Norwood Hall, Southall on Thursday 29th June as they kick off this 5- week course that will cover the history of Gurbani Sangeet.
Participants will learn about traditional Kirtan styles and performance practice and the course will cover the essential elements of Indian classical music that are necessary in order to relate to the classical tradition of Kirtan. You will also learn about the instruments associated with Gurbani Sangeet, their history and playing styles.
Each session will end with a practical class in which you will apply some of the concepts learnt and, over the course of the 5 weeks, learn to perform a traditional Shabad with the aim of performing it by the end.
